The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
Belong

Project Description

After loving our music videos for The Drums, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart came to Surround for us to produce and direct this video. It was the first single to promote their new album which was produced by legendary producer Flood (Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails) and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, The Killers). We came up with a throwback ode to a Melody Maker Magazine video from the 90‘s with a twist. In this video it all goes wrong: halfway through the video, the crowd becomes disinterested, the band essentially stops performing and dismantles the set. Pitchfork went on to list the album as their coveted “Best New Music” with College Radio stations across America further solidifying this bands indie cred.
